IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO NOT GO OUT OF BOUNDS, ESPECIALLY AFTER A BIG SNOWFALL, UNLESS YOU ARE EQUIPPED WITH A HELMET, TRANSCEIVER, SHOVEL, PROBE AND A SKI PARTNER AND MOST IMPORTANT, BACKCOUNTRY KNOWLEDGE!

Not many people ski out of bounds in Las Lenas, so after a big snowfall there is often fresh snow for days.
The only thing required to gain access to the backcountry in Las Lenas is to sign and fill out a non legal Argentinean form with patrol or the military, that provides your passport #, accommodation location in Las Lenas, which states that you agree to not hold the resort liable for any injuries incurred out of bounds.
You will be given a little colorful tag that you must show before entering out of bounds areas each time.

To save yourself the time on the hill, you can go into the Patrol hut at the bottom and fill out the form ahead of time. The hut is located across from the Innsbruck.
Be sure to bring your own transceiver, shovel, probe and helmet as the rentals are not dependable
. The ski school does rent out great helmets but they are usually reserved for people taking lessons. Be sure to have the right equipment and buy it before coming to Las Lenas as well as learn how to use it! It is almost impossible to buy avalanche gear or rent it in Las Lenas so we recommend doing so before arrival. |
